Water Cycle

Materials
- 2- Plates (7”)
- 1- Dowel Rod
- 6- Plastic Spears
- 6- Plastic Cups
- 1- Foam Disc
- 1- Tape Roll
Procedure
- Lay the foam disc and arrange 6 plastic cups to be evenly spaced around the edges- use the holes in the disc should guide your cup placement
- Attach each plastic cup to the edge of your foam disc using a plastic spear- poke the spear through the hole in the bottom of the cup and into the foam. Repeat this step for the remaining cups
- Lay one plate on a table with the bottom facing upward and add 2 pieces of tape
- Place your foam disc in the center of the plate and add 2 more pieces of tape to the disc
- Stack the second plate on top of the foam disc with the green top facing upwards
- Poke the dowel rod through the hole in the plate, through the foam, and out the other plate- Ensure the dowel rod is centered
- Turn on a sink faucet and hold the ends of the dowel rod with both hands
- Place your Water Windmill underneath the running water and watch as it spins!
The Science You Should Know
The Water Windmill requires different forms of energy to move. Flowing water uses kinetic energy, or energy in motion, to spin the water windmill. This cycle of energy continues as long as the water runs and fills the cups.
